"You've never been hooked on a game until you've played this magnificent game. Hong Kong Mahjong offers more in the way of graphics, sound, and authenticity than other mahjongg variations. This is a fabulous game that is complex yet simple to learn. If you've never understood the mahjongg craze, you'll know now as you become enthralled in this board game played with beautifully detailed Chinese tiles."

Michel said: "Finally a game that's like the real thing. You are fantastic. Ordered through the Internet, got here in 3 days.
Ann said: "I purchased my original Hong Kong Mahjong... back in 1995. My kids used to complain as dinner burnt, housework was not done, because I was totally hooked on Mahjongg. I found your site a few months back and I finally was able to buy a new disc. A day doesn't go by now that I don't play at least a few hands. We have become a Mahjongg family. Thanks for your wonder game."
This player said: "Dear Sir/Madam, I would just like to complain about your extremely addictive Hong Kong Mah Jongg. Ever since I stumbled across the game on that fateful day of 23rd January 2001, I have not been able to do anything else but pong and chow. My quality of work at [the hospital] has fallen, and even the consultants and registrars here are hooked!!! Please provide us with a suitable antidote!!! With glazed eyes and zombie-like-stares, and best wishes of course.."

Since last I wrote I have been playing 3 fan minimum with Auntie, Uncle, Joe, Dennis, and/or Wong. They are my favorite players. At the risk of bragging, I am up over 2200 now and they are all in the hole.. heh heh ;-)
However, I know that things can turn at any moment and the lucky chair can certainly move to someone else in the blink of an eye, so I am not holding my breath . . . although I did take evil delight in knocking Joe out of first place and eventually putting him in the hole. (probably crass and bad manners for me to even mention it, but he is my mahjong nemesis).
They are so much fun to play with! What I really enjoy about HKMJ are some of the subtle, but really neat details, for example everyone having her/his own "theme music" so that when someone goes out I know who it is from the opening bars of their music. That is really cool. And how my own music changes when I get a spectacular hand. Just a few minutes ago I hit a 404 chip hand: Ruby dragon, all pong, self pick, 1 flower, dragon, etc. (I was so jazzed I took a screenshot to show my friend Nikki who also plays HKMJ and loves it by the way!) What was neat was that as I was working toward the hand I was on the edge of my seat because I have become accustomed to playing with Joe, Auntie and Uncle, and I knew if the tile I was calling was not on the wall, that one of them would be holding it and the chance of them discarding would be minimal, but it was worth the gamble to go all out for the ruby dragon. They have really become "real" characters for me, I know it sounds hokey since it is "just a game," but JR you really have done such an excellent job of bringing them to life.
I have learned a great deal from playing with them by analyzing their discards and hands, and have certainly developed my own style of playing.
Some of the other features that I really like:
The stats. For instance, the thrill of getting 7 pairs and now today the ruby dragon, are commemorated in the stats so now it has given me more impetus to work toward filling in the rest of the slots for the jade and pearl dragons, heavenly gates, etc. It keeps the game a challenge and exciting.
The options. It is so neat that you allow the ability to set minimum fans so that it ups the excitement. Now I am about ready to try to play with Wong with the blind discards to check that feature out.
The sparrow. The sparrow just cracks me up. When I first got the game there were a couple times when I could have mahjonged and did not and the sparrow did this painstakingly slooooooooowwwww... flight... as if to say... ahem..!!!! are you not going to declare???!! I thought I was going to die laughing. It is that kind of detail that gives the game so much personality!
The artwork. It is all so beautiful and coupled with the music it puts me in the mood to play. It really helps break up the stress of my day, and is very soothing.
The players. It is great to have the characters' profiles as it really does lend personality to them. When I fire up the game either with weekend morning coffee or late at night to take a break, I really look forward to seeing my "buddies." So much nicer than "cartoon" characters.
The wind/flower tile highlighting. This was really helpful in the beginning for keeping mental track of how many fans my hand was so that I didn't inadvertently try to go out on less than the minimum and is still helpful for me with the flower tiles as I don't have to stop and count in my head which tile is what.
No bugs. I have not hit even one teensy tiny glitch. The game has performed so smoothly, no screenfreeze, no errors, nothing but consistent, top notch performance.
Unlike most digital games, HKMJ allows the user to "grow" into the game. It can be as simple or become as complex as the user wishes it to be. That is what makes it so cool and keeps it so fun. I truly don't think I will ever "outgrow" it.
OK, so I am sure you have heard all of this a hundred times before, and I have probably gushed on and on enough (seriously I am not usually one to write "fan" heh heh pun intended, letters) but I just had to take a moment to let you know that the thrill of the first day has not worn off, in fact it just keeps getting better and better."
Graeme said: "Goodaye. Thanks a million. The CD arrived today and we are fighting over who is going to play first. If you have any other CD games, please let us know. It's a most brilliant game. You have done well."
Jean said: "I was raised in SF's chinatown, and played the game many many years ago with family and friends. I saw HKMJ at the Robert Austin computer show, and decided to buy it. Since then, the game has given me many hours of pleasure and fun. It is the most addictive game I own and I totally love it. Thank you for developing such a great game. It's almost as good as playing the real thing. As for playing with real people, I now play Contract Bridge twice a week with friends, but look forward to HKMJ at home."
Ted said : "Just got my CD and all I can say is WOW. Really fantastic. I've got a 19" monitor and it fills the whole screen. What a sight!"
Jim said: "The game is terrific. The realism is fantastic. The only problem I can forsee is that I may have to purchase a new computer. It's difficult to pry my wife away from playing the game. At times I need to access my bank account, or check for e-mail, but getting her away is a problem."
Brian said: "HKMJ is quite an addictive game. The user interface is visually appealing and easy to follow while helping people learn. I started out not knowing a thing about Mahjongg (beyond that it existed) and have become an avid player going out and actually purchasing a set for myself to play with my friends. My boss and two fellow co-workers love the interface. Thanks for the great game."
Ray said: "Well, I certainly must say that not only has the Windows version of the game improved over its Dos version, it has also definitely blown ALL other Mahjong games apart! Honestly, I've been trying to get my wife to use the computer, you see, she's been complaining about my being on the computer for long hours, and now with your game she's hooked! We now have a new problem, who gets to use the computer first to play HKMJ!
What else can I say...the game of Mahjong has finally been revived!"
Scott said: "Received the game...wonderful job! I downloaded the demo and liked it so much I went and bought a $1500 PC just to play the full version (the demo I played on a Macintosh with a DOS/Windows Card). I can't get my wife away from it ...This is by far the best version I've seen on the internet or elsewhere. Some other people in cyberspace have their own versions of Mahjongg for sale, but comparing theirs to yours is like comparing a tricycle to a Porsche!"
Mathew said: "Finally a REAL Mahjong game with REAL Mahjong rules/scoring!! Good job, I can't begin to tell you how long I waited for such a game (Instead of that solitaire version) to become available."
Fred said: "We received the CD on Saturday the 24th via USPS. Promptly loaded it, and have since played nearly 400 hands!!! Your ad is correct: This game keeps one up all night!! Great work."
Ah Kee said: "My wife of 34 years has never sat down and seriously tried to learn the game. With a little encouragement, she finally felt comfortable in the privacy of our home to learn the game. I have mixed feelings in reporting to you that she is winning, playing with Dennis, Uncle and Yin, and has reached the "addict" stage, and hogs the PC so that I have to wait my turn to use the computer!!! When I do turn on HKMJ, she sits behind me and becomes a big "back seat driver"!!!"
Pat said: "Received the software on 8/26-Thank you! :) Installation was trouble-free and my wife and I were playing within minutes. The game looks and plays well; looking forward to hours of enjoyment."

"I think your game is one of the greatest and most addicting ever! I've played the 1992 DOS version so much that I've gotten 'Ones and Nines' 12 times, 'Jade Dragon' 5 times, and am still trying to achieve a 'Gates of Heaven'. Many thanks for such great attention to variety and detail. I can't wait for the Windows version!"

"My wife and I absolutely LOVED Hong Kong Mah Jong Pro. We installed it on our laptop and my wife would stay up in bed all night playing. She was even dreaming about playing while she slept. One night while I was reading in bed she started yelling in her sleep, PONG... PONG... I shook her and said "Honey, you're dreaming about playing Mah Jong." She sat up and looked at me and said "I am playing Mah Jongg!!" Then laid down and closed her eyes....The next morning she didn't even remember doing it.
Thanks for writing the great game release."

"I received HKMJ PRO with the Sound Blaster 16 CD-ROM I purchased. My wife is simply 'obsessed' with this game and plays it every chance she gets."
"Thank you for your quick response. I've always been strongly influenced in my decisions to purchase software and hardware based on the support that I get from the vendors. Your prompt & courteous response is very much appreciated."
